Gravesham Schools' Football Association Under 12s 2011 / 12
KENT CUP AND FRIENDLY FIXTURES
The team entered the Kent Cup, the early stages of which were played on a league basis. The top two in the league qualified for the A.B. Taylor Trophy and the next two teams qualified for the Holy Cross Cup.
Saturday 8th October Kent Cup
Gravesham 5 North Kent 1 (Scorers: Arnold, Gildea, Carey(2), OG)
On Saturday October 8th Gravesham Under 12s were at home to North Kent in the Kent Cup. Within 2 minutes Gravesham made the perfect start with Henry Arnold shooting and scoring from outside the box. Gravesham continued to push forward with the advantage of the slope and were 3-0 up at half-time thanks to well taken goals by Jaydn Gildea and Luke Carey. North Kent did create some problems for the Gravesham defence, but they worked hard to keep a clean sheet at half-time. In the second half Gravesham played some superb football and strong pressure forced North Kent to concede an own goal. North Kent , to their credit, continued to battled and pulled a goal back before Luke Carey scored his second goal of the match to ensure Gravesham started their season with a 5-1 win.
Saturday 5th November Kent Cup
Maidstone 0 Gravesham 1 (Scorer Anosike)
This was an extremely competitive match played at Holmesdale College. The match could have been won by either team and Gravesham had to spend long periods of the match defending resolutely. In the end an unstoppable shot from Brenden Anosike from outside the penalty area was enough to give Gravesham victory.
Saturday 26th November (friendly)
Blackheath 1 Gravesham 4 (Scorers Worifah (3), Conway)
Gravesham travelled to Blackheath and overcame the first challenge of finding the venue, Sedgehill School. Gravesham made a sluggish start and conceded within three minutes of the start, but from then on controlled the game. After seven minutes Jack Conway went close with a header following a cross from Henry Arnold. Five minutes later some good inter-play between Henry Roland and Jaydn Gildea allowed Brenden Anosike an opportunity which was scrambled away. After twenty minutes the industrious Rohan Bunger broke down the left hand side and Anosike could not quite convert his cross. With five minutes of the half remaining Gravesham equalised when the debutant Jeffrey Worfiah received a pass from James Miles before dribbling the ball into Blackheath's penalty area and finishing well to equalise.Seven minutes into the second half Worfiah received the ball on the edge of the opponents' penalty area and a strong run and fierce finish produced a fine individual goal. Gravesham continued to put pressure on the Blackheath defence and were awarded a penalty, but were unable to convert it. Two minutes later Jeffrey Worfiah completed his hat-trick when his shot from the edge of the box was deflected in off of a Blackheath defender. With ten minutes remaining Jack Conway broke through to score a goal e deserved for his hard work throughout the match.
The match finished with Gravesham winning 4-1 following another impressive team performance.
Saturday 10th December Kent Cup
Gravesham 2 East Sussex 1 (Scorers: Miah, Worifah)
Gravesham U12s were at home to East Sussex on frosty Saturday morning. Gravesham started the match brightly and within two minutes Jack Conway had broken away and successfully went past the opposition goalkeeper before seeing his goal-bound atempt cleared by a retreating defender. Gravesham enjoyed a lot of possession but found it difficult to break down a well organised East Sussex defence. After 15 minutes East Sussex broke away and only a fine diving save from Jack Morrison prevented the visitors taking the lead. From the resulting corner Gravesham's goalkeeper was forced to make another fine save.With five minutes of the first half remaining Luke Carey took a corner which resulted in Rajuan Miah striking the ball well into the bottom corner of the net to present Gravesham with a 1-0 lead at half time. Within five minutes of the second half Gravesham nearly increased their lead when a through ball by Danny Peen was nearly converted by Jeffrey Worifah. Two minutes later did increase their lead when Jeffrey Worifah scored following an excellent pass from Henry Arnold. Gravesham then enjoyed a period of domination but were unable to capitalise on a number of chances. However, in the last period of the match East Sussex looked the more dangerous side and they scored in the last minute of the match to make the final score 2-1 to Gravesham.
Saturday 28th January Kent Cup
West Kent 1 Gravesham 4 (Scorers: Worifah (3), Gildea)
Gravesham U12s travelled to Tunbridge Wells to face West Kent in the A.B. Taylor Trophy. Gravesham started brightly and within the first five minutes Jack Conway was unfortunate not to score having successfully dribbled past the opposition goalkeeper. West Kent, however, also caused Gravesham problems and after 12 minutes had a goal disallowed for offfside. A minute later Rohan Bunger made an excellent cross-ball from the left side of the pitch to Jeffrey Worfiah who beat the goalkeeper to score. After 17 minutes Gravesham goalkeeper Jack Morrison made a good diving save, but West Kent scored from the resulting corner. Three minutes later Jeffery Worfiah showed fantastic speed to beat the West Kent defence and his pass to Rohan Bunger resulted in the West Kent goalkeeper making a good save. After 23 minutes Jaydn Gildea received the ball on the edge of the penalty area and the opposition goalkeeper was unable to prevent Gravesham's second goal. Two minutes later Luke Carey who had an outstanding performance made an excellent pass to allow Jeffrey Worfiah to score his second goal of the match. At the end of the first half James Miles pass gave Jack Fenton the opportunity to shoot which he did well, before Jeffrey Worfiah smashed the ball into the back of the net to complete his hat-trick. Gravesham made some good passing movements in the second-half but were unable to extend their lead so the final score was West Kent 1 Gravesham 4.
Saturday 25th February Kent Cup
Medway 3 Gravesham 5 (Scorers: Anisoke, Arnold, Miah, Conway(2))
Gravesham U12s played Medway on a 3G surface which suited their good passing style. Gravesham nearly conceded early when Medway hit the crossbar, but soon started to assert their authority. Four minutes into the match Brended Anosike was able to head in a corner from Jack Fenton at the near post. Three minutes later Jack Fenton was fouled and the resulting free-kick was superbly struck into the top corner by Henry Arnold from 20 yards. Gravesham were able to produce some good football with full-backs Henry Roland and Danny Peen linking well with the wide midfielders. A fantastic save from James Morrison after 20 minutes prevented a fine Medway shot flying into the top corner to ensure Gravesham had a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Two minutes into the second half some good footwork by Raj Miah in the Medway penalty area allowed him to shoot and score. However, Medway soon broke away to reduce the deficit to 3-1. After 39 minutes Jack Conway received the ball just inside the penalty area and his powerful shot gave Gravesham a 4-1 adavantage. After 48 minutes Jaydn Gildea produced a fine turn and perfect cross to allow Jack Conway to head in his second goal of the match. In the final five minutes Gravesham conceded twice but had done enough to win the game 5-3.

Saturday 17th March
Gravesham 2 Thanet 0 (Scorers: Worifah, Conway)
Gravesham U12s faced Thanet in the semi-final of the A.B. Taylor Semi-final at Fleet Leisure. After a steady start Gravesham began to establish the upper hand. Six minutes into the game Rohan Bunger whipped in a low cross from the left hand side and Jeffrey Worfiah's first time strike at the near post was denied by the Thanet goalkeeper. Three minutes later James Miles played an excellent pass to Jaydn Gildea who was unfortunate not to score. There were then a number of opportunities to score including Jeffrey Worfiah heading just wide and Jack Fenton shooting over the cross bar. Thanet created few chances, although goalkeeper Jack Morrison was called on to punch the ball clear on one occassion. Gravesham's defence managed to prevent any real chances and was lead by a strong performance fronm Dan Birch. Despite their superiority Gravesham went in at half-time 0-0.
Gravesham had the advantage of playing down the slope in the second half and within two minutes Worfiah struck the ball well from the edge of the penalty area only to see his shot fly wide of the post. One minute later some good footwork in the box by Brenden Anosike provided Jeffrey Worfiah with the opportunity to strike and give Gravesham the opening goal. Gravesham continued to dominate with Anosike shooting high and Gildea shooting wide from shots within the penalty area. With five minutes remaining Jeffrey Worfiah's well struck shot hit the cross bar. Gravesham finally increased their lead to 2-0 with a couple of minutes remaining when Jaydn Gildea crossed from the right hand side, allowing Jack Conway to score from close range.

Monday 23rd April, 6pm kick off at Whitstable Town FC
Canterbury 2 Gravesham 4 (Scorers: Carey (2), Birch, Conway)
Gravesham U12s beat Canterbury in the Final of the A.B. Taylor Trophy on a wet evening at Whitstable Town F.C. in a cometitive first-half Luke Carey gave Gravesham the lead just before half-time with a superb strike from outside the penalty area. Canterbury equalised early in the second half before a fantastic header from Danny Birch restored the Gravesham lead. In a close match Canterbury again equalised following a penalty. Luke Carey scored his second goal of the game to give Gravesham a 3-2 advantage with another fabulous shot. Jack Conway finished well with seven minutes remaining to make the score 4-2. Both sides could have scored again in the last few minutes but the score remained 4-2 and James Miles became the first Gravesham captain to lift the trophy for 15 years.

This competition was organised on a knock out basis and open to all teams in the South East area to enter.
Saturday 12th November 12th Round 1
Gravesham 3 South London 1 (Scorers: Anosike, Conway, Birch)
On Saturday 12th November Gravesham hosted South London in the Patrick Haugh Trophy. Gravesham made a fantastic start to the match with a good passing movement involving Luke Carey and Jaydn Gildea giving Brenden Anoske the opportunity to score which he successfully did within two minutes of kick off.
Gravesham played some impressive football, but only maintained their lead ten minutes into the match when goalkeper James Morrison made a fine flying save. Gravesham were controlling the match when Jack Conway collected the ball on the edge of the box and struck a superb shot over the South London goalkeeper to give Gravesham a 2-0 advantage after 20 minutes. Three minutes later Jaydn Gildea nearly increased the lead with a shot from 50 yards which went over the keeper but just wide of the post. In the second half South London were a little more threatening but Gravesham did not concede any more goals and Danny Peen had an outstanding game at left back. However a combination of hard work and good football meant that Gravesham were always the more likely to win.
Half way through the second half Gravesham added their third and final goal when Dan Birch was able to fire the ball into the back of the net following a corner to ensure a 3-1 victory.
Saturday 4th February Round 2
Gravesham 5 West Kent 0 (Scorers: Conway, Miah, Bunger, Peen, Fenton)
Gravesham U12s were at home to West Kent in the Quarter Finals of the Patrick Haugh Trophy. In the first half Gravesham were playing against the wind and uphill but started brightly with Jeffrey Worifah and Brenden Anosike both having chances to score. However, Gravesham's play was sometimes a little hurried and West Kent were able to create a few half chances. At half-time the teams were level at 0-0. In the second half Gravesham became more dominant and within three minutes of the re-start Jack Fenton made a pass to allow Jack Conway to go through and score the opening goal of the match. In the thirty-fifth minute Rajuam Miah increased the lead with a fine individual goal. Three minutes later Rohan Bunger made the score 3-0 following an accurate cross from Rajuam Miah. After 45 minutes full-back Danny Peen scored with a well-struck shot just inside the West Kent penalty area. Gravesham's final goal came in the last couple of minutes when Jack Fenton dribbled past a West Kent defender before converting from ten yards out.

Saturday 24th March, Swadelands School
Maidstone 1 Gravesham 3 (Scorers: Worifah (2, 1pen.), Conway)
Gravesham U12s faced an away tie to Maidstone on an excellent 3G surface at Swadelands School in Lenham in the semi-final of the Patrick Haugh Trophy. Gravesham made a great start to the game when after six minutes Jeffrey Worifah ran into the penalty box and was fouled. Worifah got up to convert the consequent penalty. One minute later Worfiah again attacked the Maidstone defence with the ball at his feet and proved to be too strong, scoring his second goal of the match. Gravesham dominated the rest of the first half and were unfortunate not to increase their lead. However, to their credit in the second half Maidstone caused Gravesham a few problems and after 20 minutes scored from a long range free-kick. The last ten minutes of the match saw both teams creating opportunities but Jack Conway scored in the last minute to ensure Gravesham won 3-1 to progress into the Final.
PATRICK HAUGH FINAL
Monday 14th May 6pm, Phoenix FC
Blackheath 1 Gravesham 2 (Scorers Gildea, Carey)
Gravesham played Blackheath in the final of the Patrick Haugh Trophy at Phoenix F.C. After a competitive start with both teams looking dangerous Gravesham took the lead after eight minutes when Jaydn Gildea received a fine pass from James Miles just inside the opponent's penalty area and the stuck the ball low and hard just inside the left hand post. Gravesham then had the majority of the possession without creating any clear chances. Blackheath equalised mid-way through the first half when a well taken corner came off of a Gravesham defender before finding it's way into the net. The rest of the half was even and the teams remained level at the interval. Within two minutes of the restart Gravesham regained the lead when a corner from Luke Carey went straight in. Although Blackheath attempted to clear their lines the Assistant Referee judged that the ball had crossed the line. For the rest of the game Gravesham both battled well and played some good football to deservedly win the game. The well-organised defence managed to ensure that their goal was never threatened whilst going forwards Gravesham looked as though they might increase their lead. Gravesham therefore won the Patrick Haugh Trophy for the first time since 2002 and finished a fantastic season with a record of winning all of the 13 games that they played.

Canterbury 2 Gravesham 4 (Scorers: Carey (2), Birch, Conway)
Gravesham U12s beat Canterbury in the Final of the A.B. One minute later Worfiah again attacked the Maidstone defence with the ball at his feet and proved to be too strong, scoring his second goal of the match. Gravesham dominated the rest of the first half and were unfortunate not to increase their lead. However, to their credit in the second half Maidstone caused Gravesham a few problems and after 20 minutes scored from a long range free-kick. The last ten minutes of the match saw both teams creating opportunities but Jack Conway scored in the last minute to ensure Gravesham won 3-1 to progress into the Final.

Blackheath 1 Gravesham 2 (Scorers Gildea, Carey)
Gravesham played Blackheath in the final of the Patrick Haugh Trophy at Phoenix F.C. After a competitive start with both teams looking dangerous Gravesham took the lead after eight minutes when Jaydn Gildea received a fine pass from James Miles just inside the opponent's penalty area and the stuck the ball low and hard just inside the left hand post. Gravesham then had the majority of the possession without creating any clear chances. Blackheath equalised mid-way through the first half when a well taken corner came off of a Gravesham defender before finding it's way into the net. The rest of the half was even and the teams remained level at the interval. Within two minutes of the restart Gravesham regained the lead when a corner from Luke Carey went straight in. Although Blackheath attempted to clear their lines the Assistant Referee judged that the ball had crossed the line. For the rest of the game Gravesham both battled well and played some good football to deservedly win the game. The well-organised defence managed to ensure that their goal was never threatened whilst going forwards Gravesham looked as though they might increase their lead. Gravesham therefore won the Patrick Haugh Trophy for the first time since 2002 and finished a fantastic season with a record of winning all of the 13 games that they played.
