Gravesham Schools' Football Association U12s District Girls 2016 / 17
KENT CUP AND FRIENDLY FIXTURES
The team have entered the Kent Cup which is played on a League basis.

Sporting Club Thamesmead, Bayliss Avenue, Thamesmead SE28 8NJ. 10.30 kick off
North Kent 8 Gravesham 4 (Scorers: Hillier(3), Mills)
Gravesham girls played their first friendly for their school district team on Saturday 5th November Away at North Kent. The girls played 8 a-side game in thirds.
This is the first time Gravesham Schools’ Football Association has had a girls school district team and excitement was buzzing in the changing room as the girls discussed the match ahead.
First third: A cold morning would see North Kent taking a quick start to the game and putting a lot of pressure on Gravesham’s defence. After a few chances North Kent scored 2 goals but Gravesham District girls worked hard and as a result a great ball to Lily-Mae Hillier enabled her to fire a fantastic strike for Gravesham District the score was 3-1 to North Kent.
Second third - North Kent came back into the game trying all different attacks but our defence of Caitlan McFarlane, Simar Raina and Marcie Lovett remained strong, working hard with the keeper Eisha Atwal keeping North Kent at bay. A few errors with tiredness showing saw another 3 goals from North Kent, Gravesham District remained determined and with some great play between right wing Aoife Onraet and Lily-Mae Hillier Gravesham District conceded another goal which left the score at 6-2.
Final third: With 20 minutes to go the last play began with excellent passes in midfield from Gravesham District which put pressure on North Kent, this was a great opportunity for some strikes and a confident shot from Melissa Woods unfortunately hit the post. Gravesham District carried this pressure through and after a great ball Hollie Mills scored a great goal for her team. North Kent scored a further 2 goals but Gravesham persevered. A fantastic kick from Eisha Atwal sent the ball flying to Lily-Mae Hillier which enabled her to score her hat-trick with the end result at 8-4.
Well done Gravesham District Girls a great match that you should be proud of.

West Kent 3 Gravesham 1 (Scorer: Burnside)
St Gregorys Catholic School, Reynolds Ln, Royal Tunbridge Wells TN4 9XL 9.40 kick off
Gravesham played their first competitive girls fixture away to West Kent in Royal Tunbridge Wells. Gravesham battled well against a well organised opposition. Although the home team were very strong and did go into the lead Gravesham to their credit did not give up and did pull a goal back to lose 3-1.

Gravesham 0 North Kent 5
Elite Venue, Dunkirk Close, Gravesend. DA12 5ND 10.30 kick off
The game kicked off, with a good start from both teams with some fine displays of skills from both sets of girls. Gravesham displayed great play and fantastic passing from Caitlan McFarlane. North Kent increased their possession and Gravesham's goalkeeper Eisha Atwal made two good saves.
Having gone 20 minutes without a goal it was North Kent who took the lead and with five minutes before the half-time whistle they scored again. Gravesham's Simar Raina remained determined and had a promising run which had North Kents defence line racing behind her but unfortunately could not score.
Half-time: 0-2 North Kent.
The second half saw North Kent soon scoring another goal. Gravesham fought back well with a great defensive line of Aoife Onraet, Caitlan McfFarlane and Andrea. There were 3 great chances from Gravesham's Lilly Mae Hillier who was determined to score for her team. With the final whistle closing Gravesham battled for a goal, but it was North Kent who scored again to make it 5-0. Gravesham had great possession of the ball in the second half and excellent play between Ella and Hollie Mills put pressure on North kent. But with the referee blowing his final whistle the game came to an end and North Kent recorded their second win against Gravesham.

On a warm day with a good start from both teams, determination and focus from Gravesham nearly saw a goal in the first five minutes as they skilfully worked their way past North Kent’s defence. Gravesham had great possession in the first half however North Kent scored two fortunate goals towards the end.
North Kent scored another goal shortly into the second half. Gravesham still pushed on with winger Yohanna’s great run and excellent set up sent Lily- Mae Hillier racing past defenders and firing the ball into the net making the score 3-1. Gravesham remained determined and defender Aiofe Onraet made some excellent tackles making it difficult for North Kent’s forwards. Gravesham’s goal keeper Eisha Rai was on form making some great saves and a goal kick to Hollie Mills which set up a great ball for Lily- Mae Hillier that unfortunately went wide.
Gravesham battled for a second goal but it was North Kent that scored twice more in the last few minutes with the final score at 5-1.

Gravesham concluded the season with their first ever victory. Player of the season Lily-Mae Hillier scored both goals as Gravesham beat West Kent 2-1 at Elite Venue. This was a fitting end to the season which has seen the girls' confidence grow during the year and the team gel together.
