Gravesham Schools' Football Association U13s Boys District Fixtures 2021 / 22
KENT CUP AND FRIENDLY FIXTURES
The team have entered the Kent Cup which is played on a League basis. The first two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals of the Charles Harvey Trophy and other teams will qualify for the Twenty-Twelve Trophy.
Saturday 11th September, 2021. FRIENDLY
Canterbury 1 Gravesham 2 (Scorers: Beckham, Freeman)
Simon Langton School, Langton Lane, Nackington Road, Canterbury. CT4 7AS
Gravesham got off to a strong start with good passing and forward play and won a few corners and after about 15minutes , Ronnie Johnson took a corner and Ricardo Beckham headed home. Gravesham's goal keeper Morgan Powell came out bravely to stop Canterbury scoring, and our defence of Rhys Sherwin, Ricardo Beckham, Timi Johnson, and Malachi Sogbesan held Canterbury at bay until Canterbury got a lucky break with a loose ball from a tackle and they hit a long shot that went in the net, to make it 1-1. It was all Gravesham for the rest of the first half with Ronnie Johnson, Charlie Young and Clive Anderson all going close with shots.
In the second half Canterbury we’re kicking down the slope and resorting to long ball and long throw ins which Gravesham defended well. Gravesham kept trying to play good football and Aston Freeman was getting a lot joy down the right hand side . Canterbury got a good shot on target and Morgan Powell saved well. Midfield of William English , Harrison Brown , Clive Anderson were battling hard and about 10 minutes from the end they got the ball to Charlie Young who slipped the ball through to Aston Freeman who drove down the right and cut inside the left back and struck a power shot into the Canterbury’s net to make it 2-1 to Gravesham. Gravesham kept the pressure up until the end where Callum Dunlop went close to scoring twice . When the Final whistle went Gravesham had won 2-1, which was a great start considering they had lost 8-1 in the same fixture last year.

Gravesham got off to a disappointing start when a mix up between the defence and a bad clearance went straight to a North Kent player who had a shot and scored, to make it 1-0. From then on, it was a highly contested game with lots of tackles and challenges to win the ball. Gravesham were unlucky with a couple of corners with Rhys Sherwin , Ronnie Johnson and Charlie Young having half chances to score. North Kent took a quick throw which might have gone Gravesham's way and caught our boys out of position and scored again. North Kent were leading two-nil at half time
Gravesham were kicking down hill in the second half and competed well, and Callum Dunlop went close from a Aston Freemans pass. Clive Anderson and William English worked hard in midfield and kept trying to get the forwards in. Gravesham also defended well as North Kent kept breaking every time Gravesham lost the ball. North Kent eventually scored again to make the final score 3-0.

Masonic Hall, Cadogan Playing Fields, St. Johns Road, Tunbridge Wells TN4 9PH 10.00am kick off
Gravesham U13s started well away to West Kent with a quick couple of shots from Charlie Young and Ronnie Johnson which West Kent’s goal keeper saved. William English put a long ball through to Aston Freeman who shot and hit the back of the net to make it one-nil to Gravesham. Gravesham were on top and keeping the pressure on West Kent, whilst Ricardo Beckham and William English defended well to keep West Kent at bay. Clive Anderson passed the ball to Aston Freeman who set up Charlie Young to slam the ball into the roof of the net, for Gravesham to go in two-nil up at half-time.
West Kent started the second half well and attacked down the flanks and got a quick goal back. West Kent were playing with more desire , but Aston Freeman had a shot and the ball deflected into the net to make it 3-1 to Gravesham. West Kent didn’t give up and kept on attacking and forced Gravesham goalkeeper Morgan Powell to make a good save. Gravesham got a corner and Ronnie Johnson scored straight from the kick to make it 4-1. West Kent then turned it around with three quick goals to make it 4-4. Ricardo Beckham made a big clearance and Aston Freeman ran on to it to slide it past West Kent’s goal keeper to make it 5-4 to Gravesham. West Kent still didn’t give up and scored in the last few minutes to level at 5-5. In the last few minutes Harrison Brown put the ball forward to Aston Freeman who unselfishly passed to Charlie Young who run on to the ball and tried to take the goalie on but there keeper saved bravely, for the game to finish 5-5.

Gravesham got a free kick on the edge of the box and Clive Anderson converted the kick to make it 2-2 at half time.
The second half was a close contest with both sides trying to attack. Gravesham's Morgan Powell pulled off a couple of good saves to keep it level.
William English and Ricardo Beckham were defending well. Swale scored from a free kick from the edge of the box to go 3-2 ahead. Gravesham were trying hard to score with good battling from Harrison Brown , Callum Dunlop and Timi Johnson to get the ball forward for Charlie Young and Aston Freeman. Swale went on to score again to win the match 4-2.

Gravesham made the round trip of over 200 miles to play Gosport and Fareham in the group stages of the ESFA Champions Cup. Despite a Ronnie Johnson goal Gravesham trailed 4-1 at half time but to their credit put in a fine display in the second half and goals from Clive Anderson and Aston Freeman mad the final score 6-3.
